Hands
Why is manual labor valuable? Why are our hands valuable?
The history of civilization is, in part, the history of our hands; hands that have passed, that have been, and that now exist.
Hands wash, destroy, tear apart; hands gather, collect, make, repair.
Hands push, distance; hands embrace, wrap, unite.
Hands hold on, let go.
Hands have a language – languages; they speak, tell, fall silent, listen.
Hands have memories; they remember, forget.
Hands have postures. A posture is sometimes many words…
Hands learn; they learn to do what they don't know by working diligently…
Hands diminish, multiply.
Hands dream, sketch, erase, draw, write, create.
Hands produce.
If a human has a privilege, it is their hands.
