Aqua Vita Est
Aqua was born from the force that shapes the earth and nourishes the soil — from the fluidity of water. Every form of it was an inspiration: from tears to streams, from foaming waves to raindrops.
The Collection's Inspiration: The Associations of Water
Water is so essential to life… For this collection, I drew inspiration not only from the traces water leaves behind or its colour, but from every kind of image connected to it. A letter in a bottle is about water. So is a languid rowboat. A dewdrop as much as a storm. Turquoise as much as black. Flow is about water — and so is stillness, and so is fury. Sweeping curves as much as lines that stretch into the distance. The fish in the lake, the gull in the cloud, the pebble on the shore, the fern on the riverbed… Without water, there are no forms, no colours; no lives existing within, upon, beside, in the depths of, or in the embrace of water; without water, no poems, no countless words born from the heart. In this sense, water is the language of the earth.
The Collection's Language: Hydro-Forms
As each piece in my designs took shape in my hands through traditional goldsmithing techniques, I borrowed the character of water — I tried to behave as water does: I bent and curved, I added colour, I encircled one form and attached another to its edge.
I want the pieces of this collection to find their way like water, to reflect like water, to evoke and to remind: Aqua vita est — Water is life.
"I have simply translated the language of water into silver."
